BACKGROUND:

The inaugural Mobile Monday DC event will address the topic of wireless or digital graffiti - text messages that are displayed on the sides of buildings, in bars and restaurants, or at events. Some in the marketing community view digital graffiti as both a new branding tool and an innovative way to create dialog around an issue or event.

As a pioneer in the mobile space, SinglePoint Corp. has announced that it will be sponsoring the inaugural event.

"We have been involved in this space for many years and have witnessed the growth of text messaging, particularly in the public sector. We strongly believe that short code will be used more widely in the future and expect continued growth. We are sponsoring the inaugural event as a result of MobileMonday's solid standing in the industry," said SinglePoint Vice President of Marketing & Product Strategy, Doug Busk.

In its September 21st issue, The Economist pondered whether, when it comes to digital graffiti, "Is the mobile phone mightier than the spray can?" Recently, digital graffiti has been used to draw attention to political and economic issues at the World Economic Forum (http://www.hellomrpresident.com/), create a global discussion on current events, politics, and personal opinions (http://www.helloworldproject.com/), and collectively write the biography of a city (http://www.centrifugalforces.co.uk/citypoems/pages/01_05.html).

The speaker for this event, Stephen Randall of LocoModa, will address the digital graffiti revolution and discuss mobile technology's successes and pitfalls in politics. He'll also answer the question "is the mobile phone mightier than the spray can?"
