Someday I Suppose - Mighty Mighty Bosstones
I just read the most hilarious story, of a small sea defense country, and its nearly 40 years of history.
The Principality of Sealand is a man-made off-shore installation named HM Fort Roughs, a former Maunsell Sea Fort located in the North Sea 10 kilometres (six miles) off the coast of Suffolk, England, as well as territorial waters in a twelve-nautical-mile radius.Since 1967, the population of Sealand has consisted of the associates and family members of Paddy Roy Bates, a former radio broadcaster and former British Army Major. Critics, as well as court rulings in the United States and in Germany, have claimed that Roughs Tower has always remained the property of the United Kingdom, a view that is disputed by the Bates family. The population of the facility rarely exceeds ten, and its area is 5920 sq. ft.
And check this out..
In January 2003, Darren Blackburn of Canada approached the Sealand Bureau of Internal Affairs, offering himself as a killer. He was appointed with the title of "Athleta Principalitas", and became Sealand's first official assassin,[14] participating in marathon races as the official entry for the Principality
I wonder if I could become an ambassador
Last week, I created www.saywhatdc.com, for all those crazy things folks say in the nation's capitol. Check it out!!
I'm watching War of the Worlds right now. I think this may have been the last time I've seen Tom Cruise sane.
Oh wait, he seems to get lucky breaks and the only working car in the entire world. And goes home to the only lit house in the country.
Woops.
It is currently 70 degrees outside. On January 6th. IN FREAKIN MARYLAND.
Its even 70 in my home state of Connecticut.
Its difficult enough to figure out what to wear for the seasons. But this isn't Florida. I just walked around in t-shirt, shorts and sandals and felt like it was too hot. Kicker is, its supposed to be the same next week.
So question we all got to ask?
Will this be the first snowless winter in DC?
Let's hope for a less shitshowy 2007.
