Karen Hughes One Dollar!

karenhughes1dollar.jpg

I came across this while shopping at the Mays Landing, NJ one dollar store, where everything costs exactly one dollar. I was surprised to see Karen Hughes book there. Apparently, her book is so worthless that there were multiple copies there, one of the few books that were there. Just like Bush's foreign policy, Karen Hughes is essentially worthless.

Who says the NBA is full of self-important ball hogs? Take a look at this melee!

Tom Delay launched his website, complete with blog and a signup for "Tom DeLay's Grassroots Action and Information Network".

Tom DeLay's Grassroots Action and Information Network (GAIN) is a new force for change inside the American conservative movement, and a staunch opponent of secular progressive pressure groups and radical leftist agendas wherever they may be found in the United States.

GAIN is a growing national network of conservative grassroots activists united for the common goal of restoring American government to its constitutional roots and advancing the conservative first principles of order, justice and freedom. By developing individualized operations in every United States congressional district GAIN is positioning itself to play an active role in local, state and federal political life by effectively advocating for conservative first principles at every level of government.

Problem is, Democrats already have a Grassroots Action Institute and Network.

Democratic GAIN is a national membership association for progressive political professionals and organizations. Created in 2003, Democratic GAIN's network of political professionals and organizations is the fastest growing in the nation. Democratic GAIN provides an infrastructure that supports and connects our members across the country through our Career Center, GAIN trainings, Professional Benefits and Networking opportunities.

New MT Plugins

So I'm playing with a few new plugins.

First, Simply Threaded - which allows threaded comments. Two of the major front end weaknesses of Movabletype is no threaded comments and no real viable solution for community blog/diaries. I'm going to tinker with this to figure how to make it look good.

Second, MT-Blogroll, which I used at one point but it broke for version 3.3. Now its fixed, except I can't get rid of the "taking credit" link on the bottom. Growl.

Young People Making It Happen

Sidney Blumenthal notices a trend.

Bush has been the formative political experience for the youngest generation of voters, those 18 to 30. Studies of voting preferences show that the experience imprinted on a generation in its 20s largely determines its future political complexion. This generation is the most Democratic generation ever -- more Democratic than the youngest voting generations of the New Deal and the 1960s. In generational terms, their political alignment is also logical. As the children of the 1960s generation and the grandchildren of the New Deal generation, they have inherited those generations' political genes. The in-between, more conservative generations -- the so-called Silent Generation of the 1950s and their children -- are smaller in numbers and weaker in cultural and political influence.
