Supreme Court Weighs the Meaning of 'Obvious'

I wonder if they're interviewing Captain Obvious. Seems sorta elementary to me...

Wii Workout

I wonder if when there'll be Wii workout videos...

A videogame maker has finally succeeded in getting kids off the couch and moving around. But the new approach is turning out to be more exercise than some players bargained for.

These surprisingly vigorous workouts are being triggered by Nintendo's new Wii videogames. The Wii game console, which went on sale last weekend, competes with Microsoft's Xbox 360 and Sony's new PlayStation 3. One of the Wii's distinguishing features is a motion-sensitive technology that requires players to act out their character's movements, wielding the game's controller like a sword or swinging it like a tennis racket.

The new console has been wildly successful, selling out at stores and winning high marks from critics and game buffs. But as players spend more time with the Wii, some are noticing that hours waving the game's controller around can add up to fairly intense exertion -- resulting in aches and pains common in more familiar forms of exercise. They're reporting aching backs, sore shoulders -- even something some have dubbed "Wii elbow."

Going Ol' School

I was doing some reflecting and browsing YouTube, and I found my favorite video from 1999-2000 era. Problem was, its a Canadian band (who has since disbanded.. har har), so it was hard to be a fan in the states. Its not like there's maple leafs all over this, but it is a beautiful song and video.

Courtney Wins

Courtney won by 91 votes instead of the 167-vote margin counted on election night, according to results tabulated by 65 town clerks and reported to The Associated Press. Nearly 250,000 votes were cast.

"This is doing it the hard way," Courtney told the AP.

Courtney is the second Connecticut Democrat to oust an incumbent from Congress this year. State Sen. Chris Murphy defeated 12-term Rep. Nancy Johnson last week as part of a Democratic surge that shifted the balance of power in Congress.

"It's been an exciting year for Democrats and this is the crowning glory," state Democratic Party chairwoman Nancy DiNardo said.

And people ask what the point of field.

And this leaves Chris Shays the only Republican left in the house from New England. Looks like a goal for my home district.

Tag Cloud

New thing MovableType allows is tags. Didn't quite see the point until I saw this tag cloud thing, which I put on the right. But its awesome. Only q - how can I get h1's and so not to line break, so it would be a cloud instead of a straight list.

Update: Found a solution using styles. Thank you

On Loud Cars Playing Pop Music

Cars shouldn't be allowed to play loud pop music. Rap, I understand. Hard rock, hell yeah. But, what are you proving when you are playing some Ricky Martin? You going clubbing in your car? Better keep your foot on the damn gas. Otherwise, keep it down. If I wanted to hear bubble gum pop music when walking down the street, I'd stop at a candy store.

Unemployment

So, Friday was my last day at work, and I'm off to unemployment.

My thoughts:

  • My line of work involves two years of buildup and then let down period. I haven't taken a real break since July 2003. I don't know what to do with myself!

  • I can do things I couldn't do while working! Like cleaning? Working out?

  • Possible European vacation?

  • Waking up at normal times? Like 11

  • Plenty of movies/tv to catch up on. Yeah, netflix

Yeah, unemployment sucks, but I'm financially stable and I'm sure I can find other stuff. I mean, I'm 21, good resume, good reputation, and an ever-expanding skill set. So, who knows whats on the horizon? Probably plenty of good things.

Onward, ho!
